Dr. Eugene Zappi
As one of New York’s renowned dermatologists, Dr. Eugene Zappi has received several awards for his research in lupus and other rheumatologic skin diseases. He is an attending faculty member at the New York University Medical Center Skin and Cancer Unit, where he directs a chronic wound and ulcer clinic. He is past-president of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York. Dr. Zappi completed medical school in his native city of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1985, and is fluent in Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. After receiving his Internal Medicine Board certification in 1989, he completed an Immunodermatology Fellowship at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 1991. His dermatology residency training was completed in Dallas, and in 1994 he obtained his Board Certification in Dermatology.
Dr. Zappi is married to , a dermatologist from Brazil who works with him in their New York office.
Dr. Laura Buccheri Zappi
Dr. Laura Buccheri-Zappi is Board Certified in Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology and the Brazilian Academy of Dermatology. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she received her medical schooling at the Catholic University of Campinas, followed by a residency in dermatology at the University of São Paulo. Dr. Buccheri-Zappi speaks Portuguese, Italian and Spanish. In 1992, she continued her medical education in New York City, where she completed a fellowship in nail disorders at Colombia Presbyterian Medical Center and a clinical research in psoriasis at Beth Israel Medical Center. At the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Dr. Buccheri-Zappi completed her residency in dermatology. Today, she continues to serve there as a clinical attending in dermatology at the Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Buccheri-Zappi is married to , who is a dermatologist as well. They work together at their office in Manhattan.
